A Juggler's Tale

Back in 2017 I started to develop a 3D sidescroller game together with two of my classmates at university. We worked together on the animated short "BENU" before & really enjoyed working as a team.

Beside developing the idea and the story together with my colleagues, I am responsible for the gameplay programming, as well as the whole scene setup and level art in the engine. But as we are only three people working on the game most of the time, we´re working at all kinds of tasks at the same time.

I also really enjoyed building an Unreal tool we called "Color Volumes", which lets us change the color of every asset in the game as well as the whole lighting based on the characters position inside those volumes. This was a huge timesaver in the process of coloring the game and getting the final look, which was done exclusively using those color volumes.

In Mai 2018 we founded a company to work fulltime on the game, as we really believe in the unique gameplay and story we want to tell. We got funding from the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, which enabled us to rent an office and continue working.

In March 2019 "A Juggler`s Tale" won the German Videogame Award in the Category "Newcomer Prototype".
